Shanklin Bay
Sharing a bay Shanklin beach has the same golden sand and beautiful scenery as Sandown although it does differ from its neighbour in some subtle respects. The facilities are just as good and the safety regulations for children as tight but the amusements are less obvious. Shanklin is genrally the quieter of the two but it is also one of the Island's most popular seaside resorts. Shanklin has many attractions for children, such as crazy golf, a childrens play park, a skate ramp and trampolines. This is in addition to the traditional seaside entertainments of ice cream/beach shops beach equipment hire and motorboat/canoe hire. For hot snacks there is a cafe and a licensed pub.
Shanklin beach has on road parking as well as car parks and the town is situated directly above on high land. Although a steep slope separates the town and the beach there is a public lift to help visitors get there and back easily. Shanklin beach is ideal for families and although it may have lost its pier in the hurricane there is still plenty to see and do for all ages.
