Two miles to the west of Cowes lies the village of Gurnard with its main street of few shops, a post office and houses . Gurnard beach is split into two. At the western end is Gurnard Marsh where you can find a cafe and a boat park. Nearby is 'The Luck', a stream which runs into the sea and is a popular fishing spot for children. The path taking you on a cliff walk runs west from here into Thorness Bay and is part of the Coastal Path around the Island. Gurnard Bay to the east is sandier has a few beach huts a cafe and is home to the friendly Gurnard Sailing Club, the major dinghy sailing club on the island. There is a pleasant pub above the green with good sea views. It is a wonderful place from which to watch the beautiful sunsets over the Solent
